ORDINANCE FOR THE TEMPORARY WAIVER OF DEFAULT INTEREST ON FEES AND SPECIAL CONTRIBUTIONS APPLIED TO REAL ESTATE PROPERTY IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF SAN SALVADOR

[/vc_column_text][us_separator][vc_column_text]In a session held on June 1 of this year, the Municipal Council of the Mayor's Office of San Salvador issued decree number fifteen "Ordinance of Temporary Exemption of Late Interest on Fees and Special Contributions Applied to Real Estate Property of the Municipality of San Salvador", said decree aims to establish an incentive regime for citizens of the Municipality of San Salvador who are in arrears with their tax obligations regarding fees and special contributions applied to real estate property. The exemption contemplated in this decree applies to late payment interest accrued from non-payment of the sanitation and final disposal service fee, the public lighting fee, and interest accrued from non-payment of the tax under the "Special Contribution for Ornamentation, Construction, Reconstruction, Remodeling, Improvement, and Maintenance of Parks, Plazas, Green Areas, Central Flowerbeds of Public Roads, Public Spaces, and Other Similar Ordinances of the Municipality of San Salvador," and the "Special Contribution Ordinance for the Execution of Urban Infrastructure Projects in the San Benito Zone." This decree establishes that it will apply to obligations accrued up to May 31, 2021. Taxpayers who wish to avail themselves of the exemption may enter into payment plans to pay their entire tax obligation, provided they pay a premium of at least 30 percent of the total amount of the tax payable. It should be noted that failure to make two consecutive payments or the final payment of the formalized plan will void the benefit granted, making the entire balance due. The payment plans applicable under this decree will have a maximum term of six months. This decree is valid for thirty days, starting June 9, 2021.
