Female Leadership #WithoutGenderRoles

This March, in commemoration of the fight for women’s rights and equality, at Lexincorp we want to show our full support by promoting our campaign #WithoutGenderRoles, because women are capable of achieving everything we set our minds to.

To reinforce this message, we interviewed the Managing Partner of Lexincorp Nicaragua, Claudia Vivas, asking her the following question:

As the leading attorney at Lexincorp Nicaragua, how do you commit to empowering other women and fostering relationships of respect and workplace equality?

Her response:

My stance has always been in favor of women’s rights. Both genders have the same abilities as individuals, so in the workplace (not to mention other areas), we are equally capable of holding the same positions.

Today, in Latin America, it is gratifying to see the progress we have made on this issue, knowing that women are increasingly gaining access to positions that were once exclusively held by men. It is inspiring to see that women today have served as presidents of nations or operated airplanes with 100% female crews.

I have always believed that law has traditionally been a male-dominated field. In my experience, while a male colleague attends a late-night client meeting or an evening negotiation, he comes home to a prepared dinner, well-cared-for children, and a fully stocked pantry. In our case, besides developing our professional roles, we must also ensure that our children are cared for, our homes are running smoothly, and everything is functioning at 100%.

At Lexincorp Nicaragua, I am proud to say that women outnumber men in our team. I always encourage and inspire my female colleagues, reminding them that we are capable of holding any position we aspire to—our only limit is the sky. Women today have the power to decide how far we want to take our careers. Being a wife, mother, daughter, or fulfilling other societal roles does not prevent us from achieving our professional goals. I always encourage my team to continue their professional education, as learning is the key to both personal and career growth.

A significant global issue is the wage gap between men and women. At our firm, we have “de-masculinized” this myth. We recognize and value women’s work equally to men’s, ensuring that salaries are determined by the role and responsibilities, not gender. We acknowledge that worldwide, salary gaps between men and women can be substantial, which is why Lexincorp Nicaragua ensures equal pay for equal work.

Additionally, we always strive to respect and adapt our work schedules, allowing our female colleagues to balance their professional and personal lives. Our firm promotes a gender-inclusive approach so that all employees—regardless of gender—can harmonize their family and work responsibilities.

A Culture of Respect and Empowerment

In summary, our workplace—led by a woman—fosters an environment of respect, admiration, and professional growth for women in law.
