Experience: Ovidio Parra has extensive experience in the area of corporate counseling, especially in matters related to intellectual property. During the course of his professional practice, he has acted as Counselor for the Central American Economic Integration Secretariat (SIECA).
In addition to his legal practice, he has served as Professor of Law at the Faculty of Law of the San Carlos University of Guatemala for thirty-six years, in Civil Law I and II, Mercantile Laws I, II and III, and at the Rafael Landívar University in Commercial Law I and II and counts with more than thirty-three years of professional practice. He has acted as a thesis adviser in both universities and as an examiner in technical-professional exams. He is regularly invited to give lectures at the Francisco Marroquín University and is a professor in the Master’s program at the School of Law of the San Carlos University of Guatemala.
Since 1980 he has also been titular professor at the Faculty of Law of the USAC and acts as president of the Institute of Mercantile Law and Delegate Representative for Guatemala before the Ibero-American Association of Intellectual Property.
Education: Graduated in Legal Sciences, Attorney and Notary at the University of San Carlos de Guatemala, Postgraduate in Copyright and Related Rights at the University of Los Andes, Venezuela, Master’s degree in Commercial and Bank Law at the University of San Carlos de Guatemala, PhD in Law at the University of San Carlos de Guatemala.
In addition, Ovidio Parra has participated in several congresses, courses and seminars given by different national and international institutions, obtaining diplomas in the areas of Tax Law, Financial Contracts, Intellectual Property Alternative Resolution of Conflicts related to Intellectual Property, Voluntary Jurisdiction and Stock Market.
