Costa Rican government signs regulations for the "Digital Nomads" Law
[/vc_column_text][us_separator][vc_column_text] In July 2021, the previous Government of the Republic of Costa Rica sanctioned and published the innovative Law to attract international workers and remote service providers, popularly known as the "Digital Nomads Law," applicable to people whose income should be greater than USD $3,000 per month, or USD $4,000 if their wish was to settle with their family. This migratory Law, with tourist, economic, and tax implications, aims to attract said professional sector during a long stay in Costa Rica. In this way, it establishes a subcategory within the already known migratory stays, which provides the digital nomad with the benefit of legally remaining in Costa Rica for a period of one year, a period renewable for a single additional period of the same duration. However, this subcategory was not being applied because the corresponding regulations had not yet been issued. Last Monday, July 4, 2022, the Government of the Republic announced the signing of the decree that will regulate the stay of digital nomads in the country. Therefore, we eagerly await its prompt publication and implementation as a new way for foreigners to visit Costa Rica. This regulation brings with it benefits related to the application period, less demanding legal requirements and formalities, and tax exemptions.
